NPA site supervisor killed in cluster munition accident in Lebanon
One of Norwegian People Aid’s staff was killed in an accident in Lebanon Friday. “This is a tragic accident and we are now working to clarify the causes and assist the family of the deceased,” says Liv Tørres, Secretary General at at Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).
“NPA extends its condolences to Mohammad Ibrahim’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with them in these hard times”, Tørres says.
NPA site supervisor Mohammad Ibrahim died from injuries he suffered during the preparation for the demolition of a cluster munitions found that day. On this site alone, almost 900 cluster munitions were found by the team that Mohammad was supervising since clearance started, and that were destroyed by him.
